01/29/2024 - 4:00pm If $X$ is a subset of a group, the width of $X$ is the diameter of the Cayley graph of the group generated by $X$. The talk will be about widths of conjugacy classes in higher rank arithmetic groups and connections to other properties of these groups, such as bounded generation, the congruence subgroup property, Ulam stability, and first order rigidity.
Based on several joint works with Chen Meiri.

01/29/2024 - 4:30pm Abstract: We will define a stratification on the moduli space of local systems on the punctured disc and prove some properties of it. This stratification has a counterpart for categories with an action of the loop group, and we will describe a conjectural application of this formalism to the representation theory of W-algebras.
