Event description:
Representation theory can be viewed as the study of vector spaces
with symmetries. I would like to present some evidence that there is
an interesting theory where vector spaces are replaced by abelian
(or triangulated) categories. The main purpose is to study and understand
certain module or sheaf categories from this viewpoint. I will give
examples involving Lie algebras and braid groups.
