Event description:

The "shift locus" of degree d is a subset of the space of one variable complex polynomials of degree d.In this talk, I will first recall some dynamical properties of the polynomials of this subset, and then explain a current project joint with Calegari, He, Koch and Walker, in which we are trying to understand the fundamental group of this "shift locus" in terms of "braids on a Cantor set".
