Segre embeddings and splittings of separable algebras

It is a classical fact that given two quaternion algebras over a field such that their tensor product is not a division algebra then they share a common commutative quadratic subfield. In this talk, I will give generalizations of this fact using as the main tool “twisted versions” of the Segre embedding of a product of projective spaces.
