Event description:
There has been a recent move to develop first-order calculus in a general metric-measure space setting. Heinonen-Koskela developed a theory for quasiconformal maps in this setting, and Cheeger developed a theory of differentiation for Lipschitz functions. I will discuss some of these results and their relation to conformal dimension and geometric rigidity.
