The first part of the meeting will be dedicated to the scheduling of the talks for the semester.
The second part will a 30 minutes talk on the basic ideas of Teichmuller theory. We will start by exploring various aspects of its topology and geometry. Then, we will survey its connections to two fundamental objects in mathematics: the mapping class group and the moduli space of curves.
