Abstract: On the one hand, there a one-to-many correspondence between the set of Newton polygons and minimal bipartite graphs on a torus, and I will present a pictorial construction to show this correspondence modulo some black boxes; on the other hand, the set of matchings on a minimal bipartite graph on a torus also form a convex polytope, and the natural projection of this convex polytope to $H_1 (T;R) = R^2$ is also a convex polygon. It would not be coincidental that the Newton polygon and the projection polygon are the same!
