We introduce the notion of enhanced vertex operator algebra, which is a refinement of the notion of vertex operator algebra. Among the examples are one whose full automorphism group is a direct product of a cyclic group of order seven with the sporadic simple group of Rudvalis. Consequently we obtain a family of modular invariant functions attached to the conjugacy classes of the Rudvalis group; an example of Monstrous Moonshine for a finite simple group not involved in the Monster.
