“Linear representations of Chevalley groups over rings: Two approaches”

I will discuss some recent results on representations of Chevalley groups over commutative rings. My focus will be on two approaches, one using algebraic rings, and the other relying on an analysis of the congruence subgroup problem for linear groups. Part of this work is joint with A.Rapinchuk.
