Event description:
Auslander conjectured that every Artin algebra satisfies a certain condition (AC) on vanishing of cohomology of finitely generated modules. The failure of this conjecture—by a 2003 counterexample due to Jorgensen and \c{S}ega—motivates the question addressed in this talk, namely, can we understand the rings that do satisfy AC? Among other things, we will see that the Auslander-Reiten conjecture holds over rings that have the AC property. The talk is based on joint work with Henrik Holm (Copenhagen).
