Event description:
In this talk, we are going to consider Gauss Curvature flows describing the
deformation of a compact convex surface in the inward normal direction with
the speed proportional to the Gauss Curvature on a given point.
We will discuss applications of these flows in wearing process or image process,
and the regularity of the surface especially when it has a flat spot.
The corresponding partial differential equation will be degenerate fully
nonlinear since the tangential principle curvature will decay to zero as the
point approaches to the flat spot.
