Event description:

I will discuss how the various notions of random lattice are connected to classical questions in analytic number theory,
and my hopes (only slightly realized!) that important results in analytic number theory could be derived
from equidistribution statements on the space of lattices.

The connection between the two topics comes from the theory of periods of modular forms,
which I will use only as a black box for this lecture; no familiarity with modular forms is assumed.
