Event description:
An explicit construction is given for a central division algebra $D$ of degree $d$ over a field $F$, assuming that $D$ has a maximal subfield whose Galois closure $K$ over $F$ has Gal$(K/F) = S_d$, the full symmetric group. The method is that of {\it Brauer factor sets}, as in Jacobson’s 1996 book. The geometry of the setting will be explored.
