Event description:

Study periodic homogenization of wave equations. Equations have coefficients oscillating periodically with period epsilon. Construct alternatives to standard homogenization that provide approximations with accuracy ~epsilon^N up to times ~1/epsilon^N. The construction violates several “laws” concerning the manipulation of asymptotic expansions. Joint work with Gregoire Allaire and Agnes Lamascz available on arxiv.
