Math DUS

Welcome to the Math Director of Undergraduate Studies page! We oversee the undergraduate program and are here to assist and advise you during your undergraduate studies. We invite you to stop by our office hours (listed below) or to reach us via e-mail at math.dus@yale.edu

(Technical note: When e-mailing, please do not cc the individual DUSes at the same time—we get a lot of mail, and receiving copies of messages in several places makes it more difficult for us to keep track, and to respond to everyone in a timely manner.)

Recent Announcements

  • January 3: We are trying a new advising system for Spring 2026. Advisers and office hours are listed below. You can read more about the change here.
  • December 4: Our weekly office hours for Fall 2025 have ended. To contact us, please e-mail math.dus@yale.edu and we’ll be glad to help.
  • May 21: Take a look at this year’s student prizes, awarded at the math graduation party on May 19.
  • April 7: Math will transition to 4-digit numbers by adding “0” behind every existing number, e.g. Math 225 will become Math 2250.

Advisers and DUSes

In our new advising system, current and prospective majors are encouraged to see the dedicated adviser(s) for advice about the major, choosing classes, or just to chat and make a connection with a faculty member.

Please note that if you need DUS permission for something (e.g. substitution for a required course that you completed during high school), please be sure to visit a DUS or write to math.dus@yale.edu . The advisers are not able to provide that type of permission.

The advisers have office hours during add / drop at the beginning of term, and again toward the end of term around registration time for the following semester.

DUSes are available to everyone during the entire semester.

Everyone’s office hours are listed below. They are walk/zoom-in, you don’t have to sign up in order to attend - you are always welcome. During these hours, we provide individual consults.

For calculus advice, please reach out to the course director of the course that you wish to take. Click here to find contact information for level 1000 courses.

Technical note: Before attending office hours, please do check this page to make sure there wasn’t any last-minute change or cancellation. (These happen sometimes and will get posted below.)
