2020 Mathematics undergraduate student prize recipients

The George Beckwith prize for proficiency in astronomy or mathematics is awarded to Jana Vranes ‘20. Next year, Jana will have an exciting job as a software engineer at Facebook!

DeForest prizes

The DeForest prizes for proficiency for pure and applied mathematics are awarded to Noah Kravitz ‘20 and Catherine Lee ‘20.

Noah

Noah Kravitz ‘20

Next year, Noah will start graduate school at Princeton, where he will study combinatorics.  Quarantine permitting, he will also continue pursuing his Yale interests in the carillon and literary translation.  In the meantime, he is spending the summer walking his dog, eating dark chocolate, and reading.  

Catherine

Catherine Lee ‘20

Catherine will be attending graduate school at UC Berkeley next year. She is interested in algebraic geometry and topology. This summer she is reading novels, running, and spending time with her family. She looks forward to hiking and taking long road trips next year.

Anthony D. Stanley memorial prize

The Anthony D. Stanley memorial prize for excellence in pure and applied mathematics is awarded to Alex Cohen ‘21. Alex’s plan for the near future is to finish his senior year (after an exciting summer full of math research and political activities).
