Event description:
If XX is a subset of a group, the width of XX is the diameter of the Cayley graph of the group generated by XX. The talk will be about widths of conjugacy classes in higher rank arithmetic groups and connections to other properties of these groups, such as bounded generation, the congruence subgroup property, Ulam stability, and first order rigidity.

Based on several joint works with Chen Meiri.
