How do people see mathematics? I find it’s an odd mixture: revulsion; admiration; fear…. As a Yale math major, then as a teacher, and these days as a blogger/author/inept cartoonist, I’ve tried to understand what role this subject plays in people’s lives - and what I can do about it.
