I will discuss a new construction of mirror pairs of certain singular CY varieties. I will also discuss a number of ‘classical’ and ‘quantum’ test on these pairs. The talk is based on recent and on going joint work with S. Hosono, T.J. Lee, H. Takagi and S.-T. Yau.
