Quantitative arguments in dynamical systems are the subject of recent investigations in various contexts. We will discuss an effective eqdistribution theorem in homogeneous dynamics and how it relates to questions about positive definite quadratic forms.
This is based on a joint work with Einsiedler, Margulis, and Venkatesh.
