Event description:

Dynamics of flows on a homogeneous space of finite volume have been intensively studied over the last several decades
and brought many surprising applications in number theory, arithmetic geometry, and hyperbolic geometry etc.
Recently, homogeneous spaces of infinite volume arose naturally in several areas, and one of the most notable example
is the classical Apollonian circle packings.

In my talk, I will discuss several recent results for Apollonian circle packings where tools
of homogeneous dynamics on infinite volume hyperbolic 3 manifolds have been used crucially.
